Just in time for our first wedding anniversary, Katherine's parents came to visit us for ten days in Aspen. It was their first trip back to see us since the wedding, so we had a long list of adventures planned for them...

Including a visit to old Doc Holliday's grave, in a forgotten cemetery in the dusty hills high above the town of Glenwood Springs.  (According to his tombstone: "He died in bed")...

We went hiking across the stunning Northstar preserve at the edge of town, in the box canyon below Independence Pass...

...and we drove up to the top of the Pass to visit winter.

On the way back down to summer,

we stopped at the windswept

ghost town of Independence:

On the anniversary of our wedding, we headed back to the scene of the bliss for a picnic lunch...

And that was only the first few days! We explored the ghost town of Ashcroft:

We had a party with friends...

Took a morning hike up the near-vertical Ute Trail:

 Ate lunch at the

 Sundeck on top of

 Aspen Mountain:

Yes, that really is Halina riding in the Gondola!

All too soon it was time for a final barbecue dinner on the front lawn...

(Note Katherine's gorgeous

window boxes!)

And then Peter & Halina

headed off to Corning...

  Where Peter's birthday

  was celebrated with

  much happiness...

...and there was even a surprise guest appearance from Scott.
